High Prairie Farms is a freshwater aquarium fish micro-farm specializing in Angelfish, Killifish, Bettas, Livebearing Fishes and Live Food Cultures.

Because of the work done in the hatchery, the Farm has become a premier supplier of live foods for feeding fish. In addition to all of the common foods such as Grindal Worms, Whiteworms, Vinegar Eels and Fruit Flies. The Farm, through it's sister company, The Bug Farm, supplies odd cultures such as Confused Flour Beetles and Springtails. Not only do the farms supply these cultures, they use them to feed their own fish and can give some pretty concrete help on when and how to use live foods.

We have found that by creating the proper environment for freshwater tropical fish, amphibians and herps, one can enable them to successfully breed or spawn and the resulting young to thrive. Several species of birds do best with live foods. Many "wild caught" animals do best when fed live foods that mimic their natural foods. Of course we think that using live food increases the chances of success and think that the 30-40 species we spawn each year can indicate that success. We hope you will be able to create better environments for your fish because of information you found on this site.

We answer as many questions as we can. We find that the best way to ask the question is to do so by email. Suzie-Q does a pretty good job of answering the questions within a day or so. If the questions seems to be an emergency, Suzie-Q will try to answer as soon as possible.
